These delicious bars were inspired by the well-known Snickers bars. The original candy bar consists of nougat, topped with caramel and peanuts, covered in a layer of chocolate. We made a more wholesome, plant-based version with a soft oat base and creamy date caramel.

Maria - March 16, 2025, 8:17 p.m.

I love making them, they've become a daily afternoon pick-me-up obsession. Only I can't for the life of me figure out how to cut them neatly without the chocolate breaking all over the place 😭 I've tried thick chocolate layer, thin chocolate layer, "scoring" with a hot knife before cutting, cutting them chocolate side down.... It still ends up super messy... Please help? 🙈😅

PUL small logo PUL Team - March 17, 2025, 2:46 a.m.

Hey Maria, so glad you're enjoying the bars! The best trick is to heat your knife under hot water, wipe it dry, and cut it with gentle pressure. You can also let the bars sit at room temp for a few minutes before slicing to soften the chocolate slightly. Hope this helps 🤗

Maria - March 18, 2025, 10:43 a.m.

Thanks, I've tried the hot knife but my chocolate seems very unimpressed 🤭 I'll try letting them sit at room temperature and hope for success 🤞🤞🤞

Lieke - March 7, 2025, 1:59 p.m.

Do you measure the dates before or after pitting?

PUL small logo PUL Team - March 7, 2025, 2:13 p.m.

Hi Lieke, in this case measured the dates before pitting, but adding a bit more or a bit less of the dates won't hurt either way. Hope you love the vegan snickers bars if you give them a try✨

Tina - March 6, 2025, 7:59 a.m.

I had fun making this. Taste is perfect. I will try soaking dates next time.

Marijana - Feb. 23, 2025, 10:02 p.m.

I'm very pleased with this recipe. My dates were a little bit out of date 😁 so I had to use a little bit more milk and a little bit more peanut butter. I've used rice milk, since it was the only one I had (and I usually don't use that one at all 😅), but it was great.
I've also decided to put salty peanuts on the top layer, in the chocolate. The total evaluation: awesome 🥰

PUL small logo PUL Team - Feb. 24, 2025, 6:22 p.m.

Mmm salty peanuts in the chocolate sounds incredible 🤤 thank you, Marijana!

Marijana - Feb. 24, 2025, 9:42 p.m.

🥰🌹

Linda Fe - Feb. 8, 2025, 5:34 p.m.

This recipe was a delight to make, so surprised by the date caramel!

Laura - Jan. 21, 2025, 4:17 p.m.

I’ve made this recipe twice now and I found that the dates didn’t blend very well the first time around for me. On the second go, I soaked the dates in boiling water for half an hour before i put the in the blender. The caramel was super smooth as a result !

PUL small logo PUL Team - Jan. 22, 2025, 2:06 a.m.

Thanks for sharing your experience with the recipe, Laura! Soaking the dates before blending is a lovely idea if needed 🤗

Marguerite De Valois - Nov. 27, 2024, 2:04 p.m.

30, 2024, 1:19 a.m.

The bars were delicious!! I used oat milk, instead of soy milk, and a little more than the recipe said, since my dates were very dry.

Maria - Sept. 4, 2024, 4:39 p.m.

These look sooo scrumptious!! One question, though: due to a medical condition my partner is not allowed to have saturated fats like coconut oil/vegan butter... Is there any alternative I could use? Thanks a bunch in advance! ❤️

PUL small logo PUL Team - Sept. 5, 2024, 5:05 p.m.

Hey Maria, you can try to replace the coconut oil with applesauce or extra maple syrup in the base to keep it moist. You could melt the chocolate without adding any oil to the chocolate layer. The bars will taste a little different and likely be more crumbly. We also suggest letting the bars thaw a little before cutting, otherwise, the chocolate layer will be too hard. Let us know if you experiment with any substitutions 🤗

Maria - Sept. 6, 2024, 9:37 a.m.

Aww thanks so much! Really appreciate all your personal support. You rock!

Sara - Aug. 10, 2024, 8 p.m.

I love caramel and snickers and I honestly did not think medjool caramel could work. But I stand corrected. This snickers bar is so good, so filling. Thank you for this!

PUL small logo PUL Team - Aug. 11, 2024, 5:08 p.m.

So thrilled that the Vegan Snickers Bars were enjoyed, Sara 🙌✨

Lisa - Aug. 5, 2024, 10:08 p.m.

Tastes good but made quite a mess upon cutting. Might I suggest flipping them upside down to cut from the crust to the chocolate instead of vice versa. Made for a way cleaner cut.

Ioana - July 30, 2024, 12:57 p.m.

Absolutely amazing and its so easy to make! Love, love, love this ♥️♥️

Donna Harmsen - June 16, 2024, 6:16 p.m.

Love it!

Freya Chase - May 22, 2024, 2:48 a.m.

Well balanced, recipe lends itself to alterations. Very yummy :)

Lis - April 27, 2024, 10:20 p.m.

I love it!

JR - April 23, 2024, 6:25 a.m.

Delicious. I used 2T of maple syrup but would probably reduce to 1T in the future, as I found the base quite sweet. The date caramel with peanuts is fantastic.

Paola J - March 26, 2024, 5:24 a.m.

We just tried them today, everyone at home loved them and already want more! Great recipe 🤩

Angela L. - March 24, 2024, 6:23 p.m.

These were so indulgent and yummy! We added a little bit more soy milk and peanut butter to our caramel because it seemed a bit thicker than the picture and it was perfect. Planning to gift to my non plant-based eater friends! 🥰

PUL small logo PUL Team - March 24, 2024, 8:20 p.m.

We're so glad that the recipe was enjoyed, Angela! How kind of you to gift to your friend as well 🤗

Hannah - March 22, 2024, 7:36 p.m.

Incredibly tasty! I can’t stop eating this. It is now in the freezer as a postpartum snack. 🤩

Wiktoria Bossy - March 19, 2024, 10:10 p.m.

Thesa are absolutely delicious, quick and easy to make!!! Definatelly one od my favourite recipies :D

Becky Medina - March 3, 2024, 10:06 p.m.

These are sooooo delicious! My *caramel* was way thicker than the video caramel but it worked out perfectly! And another win with my 19yo non-vegan!!! ♥️♥️♥️

PUL small logo PUL Team - March 5, 2024, 1:24 a.m.

So happy that the recipe was a success, Becky!

Sophia - Feb. 24, 2024, 9:59 p.m.

So tasty!

Manuela Suciu - Feb. 20, 2024, 8:17 p.m.

Loooooooved them🥰
Yey, snickers is back on the menu and it tastes even better! 😋

Janelle - Dec. 24, 2023, 11:37 p.m.

Wow these are great. The chocolate breaks into big pieces when I cut it, so it's a bit messy to eat, but honestly I don't mind. It's too tasty to care. :) thanks, Sadia and PUL team!

PUL small logo PUL Team - Dec. 26, 2023, 3:22 p.m.

Hey Janelle, so glad you enjoyed these bars! In case you ever make them again, letting the bars come to room temp before cutting can help the chocolate from breaking, and you can consider also running your knife under hot water, then drying with a towel before cutting. The heat from the knife should help to create cleaner cuts :)

Jenna - Dec. 3, 2023, 6:56 p.m.

Amazing recipe, they taste perfect! I did have to chill it longer than 30 mins because the middle was still waay too soft but other than that easy to follow recipe and they pictures were extremely helpful!
How should they be stored and for how long?

PUL small logo PUL Team - Dec. 4, 2023, 4:06 a.m.

Thanks for sharing your experience with the vegan snicker bars, Jenna 😊 You can store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days, or in the freezer for 1 month. In case you haven't seen yet and it helps in the future, the storage instructions on the app are in the directions tab and the last slide of the "Make" step-by-step instructions 🤗

Jenna - Dec. 4, 2023, 8:01 a.m.

Thank you! I totally missed the storage instructions on the last slide 😅. I appreciate the response/instructions!

Živa Lenarčič - Nov. 29, 2023, 8:28 p.m.

Its so delitious. When i bit into it i was like -is this realy vegan?-. Its a great recipe for when you crave something sweet. And i am defenetly making it again. Keep on the good work.(:

PUL small logo PUL Team - Nov. 29, 2023, 9:59 p.m.

Aw such a lovely compliment, Živa, thank you! We hope you continue to love the recipes in the app 🤗

Liz - Oct. 3, 2023, 7:04 a.m.

My daughter & her friend made this & it is so good we all decided it’s *better* than a snickers! She thought there wouldn’t be enough chocolate so she melted more and then it was too thick (but still delightful). She thinks next time we should make it in flexible cupcake molds which sounds like a great idea!

PUL small logo PUL Team - Oct. 5, 2023, 5:01 a.m.

Mmm cupcake molds are a delightful idea! We hope you and your daughter love it, Liz 🤗

Lise Bouwsema - Sept. 4, 2023, 10:22 p.m.

Ugh, I really do think this is my absolute favorite. I don't know if I've eaten something so delicious before! That caramel made with soft dates is truly heavenly and the combination of everything is to be savoured; I can guarantee you that no one can stay away from it!

Angela P - Aug. 12, 2023, 9:01 p.m.

This is sooo yummy and it’s all good for you

Vania - Aug. 9, 2023, 4:58 a.m.

So delicious!!

Maha - July 29, 2023, 6:53 p.m.

🤍🤍🤍

Roberta - July 28, 2023, 9:43 p.m.

They were so so delicious 😍😍😍 our guests loved them too! 😋
I only put 1 and a half tbsp of maple sirup cause I was afraid it would be too sweet with the dates and it was perfect for us 🥰
Btw, I love your app and all the youtube content 🥰😋
Thank you 😘

PUL small logo PUL Team - July 29, 2023, 1:30 a.m.

Aw so thrilled to hear, Roberta, thanks for the support! Excited to continue our culinary journey together 🫶

ais - Aug. 18, 2023, 8:51 p.m.

😊

Nadia - July 28, 2023, 3:34 p.m.

This looks too delicious, I’m excited to try! I also have a question - I love the taste of maple syrup, but I recently started using chicory syrup as a “healthier option”, or at least that’s what I think :)) I didn’t even find chicory syrup in your app as an ingredient/grocery item. Is there any reason you are using maple syrup (instead of chicory for example) or is it just because it’s easier to find in the stores and it has a particular taste that works better in the recipe? Thanks for what you are doing, it’s amazing!!

PUL small logo PUL Team - July 29, 2023, 2:59 a.m.

Hey Nadia, thanks for the question and bringing our attention to chicory syrup! We've just added it to our database so you should see it now. We personally prefer maple syrup as it's more accessible and has a sweeter taste. You're welcome to try with chicory syrup too if you'd like though 😃

Evelyn - July 22, 2023, 2:37 p.m.

Hi! This recipe looks delicious, but… would it be possible to use canola oil instead of the coconut?
Coconut oil is one of the worse options for health.

PUL small logo PUL Team - July 25, 2023, 4:36 a.m.

Hey Evelyn - coconut oil is solid at room temperature which helps the bars stay firm. You could substitute the coconut oil with canola oil but the bars may end up more crumbly 🙂

Katarina - July 18, 2023, 6:16 p.m.

I made these today and they turned out insanely good. Everyone thought it was even better than real Snickers

Isla - July 11, 2023, 1:58 a.m.

So delicious! My non-vegan family thought they were better than the real snickers.
I used almond meal instead of coconut which worked well. The only thing was I found them hard to cut as the caramel oozed out from under the chocolate. Any tips to prevent this? Otherwise delish :))

PUL small logo PUL Team - July 13, 2023, 11:35 p.m.

Such a huge compliment, Isla, thank you! So kind of you to share the bars too 🤗 Here are a few tips that can help:
- Spread the chocolate layer evenly to help create a barrier.
- Chill the bars for enough time to help them set, this is typically at least 30 minutes in the freezer
- Use a sharp, heated knife to cut through the bars easily

We hope this helps for now!

Ana Baena - July 5, 2023, 10:43 a.m.

It is insane how yummy they are!

Bárbara Rêgo - July 3, 2023, 8:16 p.m.

Delicious!

Anisha McClure - July 3, 2023, 8:15 p.m.

Better than you even think. Run, don’t walk!

Margaux - June 29, 2023, 2:15 p.m.

Hi there!

First of all, congrats for the app! It's stunning 🤩 As for the recipe, I have a question: can I replace the shredded coconut with another nut flour like almond or hazelnut? I don't like the taste of coconut unfortunately...

PUL Team - June 30, 2023, 7:43 a.m.

Hey Margaux, we haven't tested it out but we imagine you could! Do let us know if you give the recipe a try 🤗

Ana Baena - July 5, 2023, 10:44 a.m.

I actually did it. I used almond flour instead of coconut (just because I am not a big fan) and they turn out great!

perla - July 17, 2024, 3:29 p.m.

I also swapped the coconut flakes for almond flour and they came out awesome!

Jenna - June 28, 2023, 7:40 p.m.

I wish I could give these 10 stars! SO GOOD.

I was out of oat milk, so I used water. Other than that, I made them as intended. Perfect! This will become a new regular treat for me.

PUL small logo PUL Team - June 29, 2023, 9:10 a.m.

Super thrilled to hear, Jenna, thank you! 😃

Shannon Senne - June 24, 2023, 3:05 a.m.

I remade this today, with the updated recipe. It’s perfect! I love the texture combinations and the salty-sweet flavors. A definite repeat recipe. I think this would be a hit at parties. Thanks to the team for adjusting the recipe after my previous comment. You guys are amazing. I love your recipes, keep up the good work!

PUL small logo PUL Team - June 24, 2023, 6:30 a.m.

Aw it means so much, Shannon, thank you for being part of our incredible community 🤗

Megan - June 20, 2023, 5:10 a.m.

I made these and they were so tasty! I did have to make a couple tweaks from the recipe though: I found the base layer batter was really wet so I actually baked it in the oven at 350 for about 12 minutes to help it set and this seemed to work well. I also found my caramel layer was too thick to spread so I added a couple teaspoons of melted coconut oil which helped. Otherwise it was a great recipe and tasted delicious!

PUL small logo PUL Team - June 20, 2023, 7:21 a.m.

Hey Megan, we're so glad you enjoyed the taste of the bars! Thanks so much for your feedback, we've just re-tested it and updated it to ensure the base is less wet, and to ensure the caramel layer spreads a little more easily. Thanks so much for helping us improve what we do 🙏

Lisa M - June 10, 2023, 8:42 p.m.

Can you use a different oil in this recipe? My husband’s cardiologist told us not to use coconut oil when cooking.
He says it’s not heart healthy.

PUL small logo PUL Team - June 10, 2023, 10:54 p.m.

Hey Lisa 🙂 Coconut oil is solid at room temperature which helps the bars stay firm. You could substitute the coconut oil with a neutral vegetable oil, such as refined olive oil that doesn't impart the olive oil taste. The bars may just end up a bit more crumbly. In case you're interested we have an article on fats and oils here: https://www.pickuplimes.com/a…

Lisa M - June 14, 2023, 4:09 a.m.

Thank you. 🙂
