Scones are found most famously in Ireland, Scotland, and the UK. Some doughs require kneading and rolling to produce flaky layers, but this recipe just requires dropping spoonfuls of batter onto a baking tray to produce fluffy scones. A quick treat to whip up in time for an afternoon tea!

This is a good scone recipe. It’s tasty and not too sweet.

Delicious! I’m always worried a dessert calling for a banana will taste just of banana, but the banana flavor here was very subtle in my opinion. I had never made scones before, so I’m in love with a new recipe!

I invited a friend over for tea last minute and made these scones to go with. They were fun and easy to make, and very much enjoyed with the tea!

Sadia Ji, Namashkar from Bharat 🙏! I am new subscriber to your app. One query - will this recipe work using almond flour? One request - please come up with recipes for kids (specially cakes, biscuits, breads etc) using almond flour/ other healthy ingredients which taste good as well. Thx for your work! 👍
PUL Team - July 14, 2024, 7:30 p.m.
Hi, Aditya, sending our warmest welcome to the PUL App 🤗 We don't imagine these scones will work well with almond flour in place of the all-purpose flour. The gluten in the all-purpose flour helps give the scones a fluffier texture and structure that almond flour may not offer as it's gluten-free. A gluten-free flour mix generally works better than using just one gluten-free flour, such as Bob's Red Mill Gluten Free Flour blend. We've noted down the request for more recipes for kids and hope you enjoy the scones if you try the recipe!

It is fun to have a scone recipe that is (1) easy to make without getting sticky hands and (2) yields moist scones. I absolutely love the small chocolate dose😉
The reason why I do not give 5 stars is that the grams of carbohydrate per scone is not entirely accurate. Of course, I know that depending on how one measures the ingredients, what manufacture-specific contents are available and how evenly one sizes the dough, the grams of carbohydrate may vary. However, I have had some suboptimal glycaemic outcomes by dosing my insulin according to 45 g per scone😞. By trial and error, I think that the estimate 60 g per scone might be more accurate. An error of 15 g is quite a lot to be explained by the factors above. I must say that I appreciate your Notes section!! It is most often accurate, and you actually provide a lovely service (saving me the time-consuming task to weigh each ingredient to calculate the total carbohydrate while cooking/baking). Just a minor plea from a T1D perspective 🙏🏻

Sorry for the long review 😅, and I meant Info tab not Notes section🙈
PUL Team - Feb. 13, 2024, 12:07 a.m.
Hey Louise, thanks a bunch for taking the time to leave the review and insight! We're glad to hear that the scones were enjoyed despite the suboptimal glycemic control ☹️ most of the carbohydrates in the recipe come from the all-purpose flour and dairy-free dark chocolate which we've measured in the studio, and get the nutrition information from reputable platforms such as the USDA.
Perhaps the chocolate used may have been sweetened? In case you used cup measurements, it can also help to ensure that the flour isn't too packed in the cup, but rather, gently spooned into the measuring cup and levelled. Or use a kitchen scale, which is a bit more accurate than cups. We hope this helps for now and happy baking 🤗

What can i substitute coconut oil with?
PUL Team - Dec. 21, 2023, 6:31 p.m.
Hey Altyngul! The coconut oil helps the scones stay firm since it's solid at room temperature. You could try substituting the coconut oil with vegan butter or margarine. If you use a liquid oil the scones will likely become more crumbly. Let us know if you experiment with any substitutions 🙂

Dear PUL-Team. I've never paid for an App before, so done now. Nor I am much into social media, don't have Instagram, Facebook or an account on YouTube. I follow 6 persons on YouTube and you are one of them. But never wrote them or left a comment. So it's something very special doing it. But I have to. I love your recipes. And the love you are putting in everything you are creating. One can feel it while eating your meals (or actually watching your videos). These scones where perfect for our first breakfast in Advent and my premiere in leaving a comment ;) Thanks for your work!

Am I the only one confused about the recipe directions say to mash banana, when bananas are not listed in the ingredients?
PUL Team - Nov. 29, 2023, 4:30 p.m.
Hey there, Trine, we see the banana on our end! It's at the top of the list on the third slide of the step-by-step cook-along "Make" feature. It's also below salt and above coconut oil on the full list of ingredients. If you're still having trouble seeing it, could you kindly send us a screenshot of what you see to [email protected]? 💌
