This hot chocolate has all the deliciousness of a regular hot chocolate and is also nutritionally power-packed. Naturally sweetened with dates, and featuring anti-inflammatory properties from turmeric. It's creamy and sweet, perfect for snuggling up and enjoying any time of the year.
Add all the ingredients to a blender, and blend until smooth*.
Transfer to a saucepan and bring to a gentle simmer over medium-high heat. Stir continuously to prevent scorching the milk.
When heated through, remove from heat, transfer into your desired cups and enjoy!
Notes
†Nutrition tip: aim to use plant-based milk that is fortified with calcium.
* The dates provide natural sweetness, but also add a slight graininess to the drink. For a smoother texture, use maple syrup instead and omit the blender. Simply add the ingredients to the saucepan.
Storage
Best enjoyed immediately.

Looks so delicious!!! How much sugar without dates? I like dates but need to reduce sugar as I have candida overgrowth yeast bacteria. Still eating too much ice cream and other things as love sweets things but I need to have less sugar. I look forward to trying this recipes, so many delicious ones, hard to choose.
PUL Team - July 19, 2024, 2:25 p.m.
Hey Cynthia, if you're skipping the dates, you can try adding 1-2 teaspoons of sugar or your favourite sweetener to taste. We hope you enjoy the hot chocolate if you give it a try 🤗
Cynthia O´Toole - July 20, 2024, 3:31 a.m.

Such a yummy comfort drink! 😋 Was wondering if its possible to make an iced version of this without diluting the flavour?
PUL Team - May 29, 2024, 3:20 p.m.
Hey Keet, we haven't tested it, though imagine it would work! We would suggest only doing step 1 and skipping the heating step. Add ice cubes, or if you are concerned about diluting the drink, you could use frozen plant-milk as ice cubes, or even frozen coffee ice cubes, instead. Enjoy 🤗

I love, love, love your videos & recipes! I've made this recipe before & it's absolutely delicious! I like Christina's idea of putting the dry ingredients together & wondered if I could put powdered vanilla in this recipe instead of liquid. Do you think that would that work & about how much should I use? Thanks so much!!!
PUL Team - Jan. 21, 2024, 11:04 p.m.
Hey Kris, aw thanks for sharing the love and for your support 🥰 You can substitute powdered vanilla for the liquid version, though keep in mind it can add a bit of a grainy texture. We'd recommend starting with around 1/2 a teaspoon of powdered vanilla for two servings and adjusting the recipe to your taste preferences. Enjoy!

Decadent and mood-enhancing! Absolutely love it! In the recipe it doesn’t specify how much maple syrup to sub for the dates, can you please let me know? I used measurements based off of the Golden Milk recipe. Thank you!
PUL Team - Jan. 9, 2024, 7:29 a.m.
Hey there, Shayda, medjool dates are quite sweet. We'd say one date is equivalent to about one tablespoon of maple syrup. Since the recipe calls for 3 Medjool dates for 2 servings, you could start with 2 tablespoons of maple syrup and then add more to taste 🤗
Shayda - Jan. 10, 2024, 4:30 a.m.

"Aw how sweet of your boyfriend! Thanks, Margarida ☺️" PUL Team ----- Is this a joke? I don't know which member of PUL wrote this, but this is disgusting. It's horrible that this behavior is expected of girlfriends and never praised, but when one boyfriend once does anything for his girlfriend, we are in awe and should share it on social media, how awesome he is, but girlfriends are supposed to do this all the time and be quiet about it.

The spice flavor is overpowering. I added 5 dates and the drink wasn't sweet enough. Even after adding a splash of rice syrup the bitterness of cacao and spices was too strong for my liking. I hope I'll at least have a good night sleep tonight 😉
PUL Team - Aug. 26, 2023, 3:40 a.m.
Hey Martunia, we prefer Dutch-processed cocoa powder because it's sweeter in flavour and dissolves easily in liquid compared to cacao which is more bitter. We hope you'll still get a nice sleep 😃
