So glad you enjoyed it, Anastasia! Thanks for the request too 😊

Salome V Ingen - March 2, 2025, 4:07 p.m.

I was a bit intimidated because it was an upside down cake but it turned out better than I had hoped for. For a sugar free cake this truly hits the spot when wanting something sweet. 10/10 and will absolutely make this again.

Upside-down cakes can feel tricky, but we're so glad it turned out well, Salome! Love that it satisfied your sweet tooth 🤗

Katya - Jan. 19, 2025, 4:33 p.m.

Hi! What’s the weight of the dates that you used? I just prefer other varieties of dates, not Madjool, so it’s good to know..

PUL small logo PUL Team - Jan. 19, 2025, 5:01 p.m.

Hey Katya! One date on average for us is 22-25g so 8 Medjool dates in this recipe are around 130-150 grams. If you're using a different variety of dates in this recipe, it may help to soak them in hot water for about 5 minutes if they're drier or less sticky than Medjool dates. This will help keep a smooth blend and keep the texture just right 🤗

Used 3Tbs of Sugar instead of the Dates.
Awesome Cake. Not too sweet.

Love it! Made it for brunch and it was perfect - even my 10 months old son enjoyed this cake 😍.

zeus the yorkie - Dec. 25, 2024, 8:25 p.m.

I baked this for Christmas and it was amazing! Perfect amount of sweetness. I don’t have blender so I smashed dates with fork in a warm water and all was good. I could feel walnuts eating it because I couldn’t smash walnuts with fork 🤣
This cake will be my favorite cake to make now!

Aw we're so thrilled to hear this, Zeus, thanks a bunch! ☺️✨

Martunia - Dec. 19, 2024, 8:41 p.m.

Made this today, and it was a hit. My family really enjoyed it. One question, though: in the photos, we can see unpeeled apples, and in the ingredient list, under the asterisk, it mentions peeled apples. So... which one do you recommend?

PUL small logo PUL Team - Dec. 20, 2024, 2:48 a.m.

Hey Martunia! So glad it was a success and apologies for the confusion. For this recipe, we used peeled apples, and the peels tend to shrivel slightly during cooking so they're more hidden in the photos 🫶

Alexandra Todi - Dec. 11, 2024, 1:52 p.m.

Hi! Can i replace the dates with anyrhing else? Thanks!

PUL small logo PUL Team - Dec. 11, 2024, 3:12 p.m.

Hey Alexandra, we haven't tried so we can't say with confidence. Let us know if you experiment with any modifications though :)

ecr - Nov. 24, 2024, 3:21 p.m.

I have looooved this recipe. I did some adjustments because I did not have all the ingredients. Lovely!

MrsBambi - Nov. 20, 2024, 7:15 p.m.

This cake is so delicious! I enjoyed making this recipe. It's fun and tasty!

Karne Steyn - Nov. 18, 2024, 5 p.m.

I made it yesterday and was blown away by how good this was.
The walnuts and dates give an interesting texture and the flavour is fantastic.
Will definitely make this again.

Joanna - Nov. 17, 2024, 7:23 p.m.

I can't wait to try this out for my birthday!! If I only have a 20cm baking tray, would I have to modify the ingredients 😅

PUL small logo PUL Team - Nov. 17, 2024, 11:45 p.m.

How exciting - happy early birthday, Joanna 🥳 A 20cm tray should work fine - the cake might just be slightly taller and may need a few extra minutes in the oven.

Joanna - Nov. 18, 2024, 10:30 a.m.

Thankyou so much 🥰 I'll make a note of that

Savvas - Nov. 17, 2024, 5:24 p.m.

Do you think I could cut the apples with a knife? I don't have a mandolin, unfortunately 😕

PUL small logo PUL Team - Nov. 17, 2024, 11:36 p.m.

Hey Savvas, absolutely! A knife will work fine - just aim for thin, even slices so they bake evenly ☺️

Savvas - Nov. 18, 2024, 9:08 a.m.

I actually couldn’t wait, so I tried it yesterday! It was so delicious! I think I’ll peel the apples next time because my cutting skills aren’t the greatest, and they turned out a bit chunky. 💚

Anosha Singh - Nov. 17, 2024, 11:40 a.m.

I have been replacing sugar with date paste in most of my baking and it’s so yummy / just as sweet. Excited to try this!

Nina - Nov. 17, 2024, 10:16 a.m.

I tried it last night when my sweet tooth was craving a treat and this cake was perfect! Only a few ingredients needed, super easy to whip together and most importantly so wholesome and delicious, the dough was nutty while the apples were soft and gooey. I used wholemeal spelt flour to make it even healthier. I especially love that this recipe works without any added sugar while still being sweet and not feeling like something is missing 🤤

Thank you for all the love and hard work you put into this app, I would be happy to see even more sugar-free dessert recipes 😍

PUL small logo PUL Team - Nov. 17, 2024, 11:29 p.m.

Thank you so much for the kind words and thoughtful feedback, Nina 😊 We’re thrilled you enjoyed the cake and love your idea of using wholemeal spelt flour! We’ll keep sugar-free desserts in mind for future recipes ❤️
