I loved it! I put an extra bouillon cube and a cup extra soy milk in. Also I added the whole broccoli. I made it for friends and they enjoyed it too!

Alexis O - March 16, 2025, 9:05 p.m.

A pretty meal in the cast iron skillet and very filling and warming on a cold day.

Heidi Lynn Frost - Feb. 3, 2025, 1:17 a.m.

Yum! The sauce reminded me of homemade cream of chicken (minus the chicken, thankfully). Creamy, comforting and enjoyed by the family. I used frozen cauli/broccoli/carrot blend and chopped extra broccoli florets.

Lori MacIntosh - Jan. 20, 2025, 11:05 p.m.

So warm and cozy! Exactly what I wanted tonight!!! I did add more frozen veg, but had already had the sauce done. Next time I would double the sauce - just because I love it saucy!!!

I really enjoyed it!!! But boy, do I have leftovers 😂😂😂! It makes a lot!

allie - Jan. 10, 2025, 4:54 p.m.

I made this last night for my nanny family.

My thoughts:
1. This is a SUPER easy meal to make.
2. I used whole milk, extra garlic cloves, and extra seasonings. I was told it was just enough seasoning!
3. The main comment was that the chickpeas will still pretty hard, and the texture was inconsistent with the veggies.

4/5 stars!

Hey Allie, thanks so much for sharing your experience with the recipe 😊 If you prefer softer chickpeas, you can cook them a bit longer beforehand to get them just how you like. Happy cooking!

Kedar Pandhare - Dec. 26, 2024, 3:15 a.m.

This turned out to sooo sooo delicious 😋😋. It’s very filling and tasty. Made this for our christmas party and our guests loved it. I can’t believe this dish doesn’t have salt in it and yet it tastes so delicious.

Keep up this good work & wishing you a happy & prosperous Christmas & New Year!! Lots of love from New Jersey, USA

So glad that the skillet bake was enjoyed, Kedar! Sending all our love and best wishes to New Jersey 🤗✨

loh - Dec. 21, 2024, 12:36 a.m.

I’m having a hard time finding nutritional yeast in the area of Spain that I’m living in. What can I substitute it with?

PUL small logo PUL Team - Dec. 21, 2024, 4:02 a.m.

Hey loh, we've heard a positive review for vegan parmesan! You could also try a bit of miso paste for some extra umami flavour 🤗

Briana Hemry - Dec. 16, 2024, 2:55 a.m.

This was so delicious! Like chicken pot pie but without the death. I think the tater tots added the crunch and flavor to really elevate the dish. The only alteration I made was adding vegan parm in the sauce instead of nutritional yeast since my partner doesn't like it. Will definitely be making this many times.

Markuss B - Dec. 8, 2024, 4:36 a.m.

Amazing

anjali singh - Dec. 6, 2024, 8:21 a.m.

Hello. If I swapped the tots with the garlic mashed potatoes then how do I make it hold that circle shape?

PUL small logo PUL Team - Dec. 6, 2024, 2:50 p.m.

Hey Anjali! To make the mashed potatoes hold a circular shape, you could try to pipe them into the chickpea mixture. Potato tots have an outer crispy layer that helps them hold their shape and gives a crispy texture, which might be tricky to replicate with mashed potatoes, although mashed potatoes as a topping to this dish are delicious! (it's similar to a shepherd's pie). For a little extra crunch, maybe spritz the top of the potatoes with some oil before baking. Let us know how it goes if you try it! ☺️

Elizabeth - Dec. 6, 2024, 2:22 a.m.

I just downloaded the app and this is the first recipe I’ve tried, the tots spoke to me. I made it exactly as written, except I transferred it to a 9x13 glass baking dish because my cast iron pan is too small, and it was delicious! I thought it was well seasoned. Everyone loved it, including my toddler. I’ll definitely be making this again!

Welcome to the PUL App, Elizabeth! Thanks for sharing your experience with the recipe. We're so glad it was enjoyed 🥰

fresh Gdlr - Dec. 5, 2024, 7:10 p.m.

Soo good !!!

Suzie B - Dec. 1, 2024, 11:55 p.m.

I made this as the veggie main for friendsgiving and it was absolutely demolished. I subbed the milk for vegan cooking cream and broccoli for spinach and it was just delicious.

Adrienne - Nov. 25, 2024, 8:45 a.m.

This was tasty and comforting and nostalgic, like a hug from my childhood even though we never had tater tot casseroles. That said, I found I had to add quite a bit of seasoning to the sauce- salt, a lot more pepper, white pepper, soy sauce, miso, thyme and brown mustard. I did leave out the nooch because it gives me horrible heartburn, but I don’t think that could have affected the lack of seasoning so much.

I would still recommend it, but be sure to taste the sauce before you add it to the veggies, and adjust to your liking.

PUL small logo PUL Team - Nov. 25, 2024, 4:03 p.m.

Thank you for sharing your thoughtful feedback, Adrienne! The nutritional yeast does help boost the flavour of the sauce, though it sounds like you made some flavourful adjustments to suit your preferences. So glad you still found it comforting and nostalgic 🫶

Phillipa - Nov. 20, 2024, 10:54 a.m.

Little disclaimer: I had to change the recipe so my rating is perhaps not accurate.
I didn't have potato tots or anything similar in. I thought that I could slice potatoes and put those on top and it turned out that I didn't have those in either. I had already done the filling at this point. After a deep rummage in my freezer I found some purple sweet potatoes and they worked brilliantly. I also added some all around potato seasoning (from Just Spices) to the veg because of what some have already mentioned in the reviews. This also turned put really well. Frozen broccoli was a success as was a little oat cream poured over the potatoes before baking.
All in all, I loved this dish. It's so versatile and has given me a base to create similar oven dishes which make it easier for me to be away from the stove and be with my family. This was particularly good food for leaving on the worktop to cool while I left for work knowing that my child had lots of veggies for dinner and that the babysitter could serve up with ease.
Thank you for the inspiration!

PUL small logo PUL Team - Nov. 20, 2024, 10:11 p.m.

What a heartwarming and resourceful journey to make the recipe work for you, Phillipa 💜 It sounds like those purple sweet potatoes were a happy freezer find. Thank you for sharing your experience with it and for giving the recipe a new spin!

Ameya - Nov. 19, 2024, 10:32 p.m.

The tiny humans are petitioning that this be called "tot pot pie" - it's in the oven right now so I can't speak to the taste but the prep was really simple and getting the tiny humans involved to arrange the tots was quite fun!

PUL small logo PUL Team - Nov. 20, 2024, 8:23 p.m.

Love it, Ameya ! "Tot Pot Pie" is an absolutely adorable name - sounds like the tiny humans are onto something brilliant 😜

Aileen - Nov. 19, 2024, 12:17 a.m.

Very delicious. I don’t like mixed veggies, so I did full corn. This dish was so good. My husband and I did find it was lacking in some additional spice. Once served, we added some salt and the PUL chick’n spice. It definitely added the additional flavor we were looking for.

Sara Hopkins - Nov. 19, 2024, 12:03 a.m.

My husband and I enjoyed this for dinner! I added poltry seasoning to the sauce, and it really elevated the flavor. I will make this dish again!

Melissa - Nov. 18, 2024, 1:37 a.m.

My husband LOVES tots, so we had to make this! So fun and really easy. I did struggle to get the sauce to thicken though… I’m not sure if maybe I had the heat too high or too low?

If you use unseasoned tots, I recommend adding some salt and pepper on top at the end, too.

PUL small logo PUL Team - Nov. 18, 2024, 2:33 p.m.

So glad you and your husband enjoyed it, Melissa! For the sauce, consistent stirring over medium heat usually works best - too high might scorch it, while too low can slow the thickening. Adding salt and pepper to unseasoned tots is a great tip as well 🙌

Terhi - Nov. 18, 2024, 12:52 a.m.

Such a fun dinner to make! Flavors are great and it's very easy and quick to put together. I love the tater tots on the top! 🙂 Will be making again for sure. Thanks for the recipe!

PUL small logo PUL Team - Nov. 18, 2024, 2:19 p.m.

Woop woop! So glad you enjoyed it, Terhi, happy cooking 🫶

Kishore Vasan - Nov. 17, 2024, 8:23 p.m.

Looks delicious! Does it need to be cooked in a skillet or is an oven safe dish okay?

PUL small logo PUL Team - Nov. 17, 2024, 11:48 p.m.

Hey Kishore, you can use an oven-safe dish instead of a skillet! We'd recommend a 9 x 13-inch (23 x 33 cm) baking dish. Just follow the baking instructions and adjust the cooking time if needed 😊

Indi - Nov. 14, 2024, 10:55 p.m.

Delicious! Love how easy it was to put together

Rob - Nov. 13, 2024, 8:29 p.m.

A proper winter tea 😁 So tasty and really easy to make. We don't have potato tots here, so I was going to sub those with potato croquettes. Typically the only ones in stock at the supermarket were the ones with cheese in them, so I used frozen roast potatoes instead. They worked really nicely, and next time I'll see if I can get some cheese free croquettes and see if they work! Really enjoyed this meal 💙

PUL small logo PUL Team - Nov. 13, 2024, 9:44 p.m.

Yayy so happy to hear you enjoyed the recipe, Rob, and love the idea of using roast potatoes as well! Happy cooking 🫶

Janelle - Nov. 13, 2024, 1:30 p.m.

Any recipe on how to make your own potato tots?

PUL small logo PUL Team - Nov. 13, 2024, 3:25 p.m.

Hey there, Janelle, we don't currently but we've added the idea to our list! In the meantime, you could likely grate peeled potatoes, squeeze out excess water, then mix with a bit of flour, salt, and pepper. Shape it into small cylinders, then bake or fry until crispy 🤗✨

Jonathan - Nov. 12, 2024, 9:26 p.m.

Delicious and easy to prepare. This dish has a bit more "prefab" ingredients than I'm used to from pickup limes but it is a very easy to prepare and easy to impress dish.
