Packed with a punch of chili heat, a touch of sweetness, and a hint of tanginess, Indonesian sambal goreng tempeh is perfect for those who crave bold flavours. The tempeh is first fried, then coated in a flavourful spice blend. It's then cooked down with ketjap manis, which gives it that distinctive sweet and sticky texture.

Wow, this looks so yummy! How do you eat this, though? Is it with rice, just on its own or some other way?

Hey there, Preethi, thanks for your interest in the recipe! It's an Indonesian side dish, so you can serve it with steamed rice and veggies, gado gado, or nasi kuning (recipe for that coming soon!). Alternatively, stuff it in a wrap or pita with crunchy veggies and plant-based yogurt, toss it into a noodle bowl with sautéed greens, or add it to a nourish bowl ☺️✨

I typically eat this with rice and green beans or pickled cabbage (atjar tjampoer). It also combines well with gado gado & rice. You can also eat it on its own as a snack, or put it on your sandwich.

All of these options sound lovely :) thanks so much Rosemary, and the PUL team 🥰
