Ingredients

  • ½ cup (75 g)
    frozen raspberries
  • ½ cup (75 g)
    frozen blueberries

Directions

  1. Stovetop directions: place the frozen fruit in a saucepan on medium heat, stirring occasionally. The fruits will begin to thaw and release their juices. When heated through, remove from the heat.
  2. Microwave directions: in a microwave-safe bowl, heat the frozen fruit at 600W for 1 minute, then stir. Return to the microwave and continue at 30-second increments. If desired, mash with a fork so more juices seep out but some chunks remain. Enjoy!

Will heat decrease the amount of anthocyanins in blueberries?

PUL small logo PUL Team - Aug. 25, 2024, 10:36 p.m.

Hey there, Alicia, heat can reduce the amount of anthocyanins in blueberries. While some loss occurs, cooking still keeps a lovely portion of antioxidants and other nutrients, making stewed berries a wholesome option πŸ€—

No point buying fresh berries at this time of year, but love having them in the freezer and adding this to pancakes/porridge/chia pudding/yoghurt to get in tasty berry goodness in winter.

So simple, so berry divine! This was exactly what I was looking for.

Dawn - April 4, 2023, 2:23 p.m.

FYI, I tried looking for this recipe by looking for berries as an included ingredient and couldn’t find it. I ended up finding it when I googled stewed berries.

PUL small logo PUL Team - April 4, 2023, 6:32 p.m.

Hey Dawn, thanks for pointing this out! We've removed the berries ingredient type and have left different types of berries separate (such as "raspberries" and "blueberries"). If you prefer a general berries ingredient search though do let us know πŸ€—

Dawn - April 4, 2023, 8:27 p.m.

I think you should keep it as long as it points to recipes that have berries. Since I wasn’t sure which berries I wanted, I was concentrating on generic berries. Which I think a lot of people do. Just my opinion :-)

Dawn - April 4, 2023, 8:28 p.m.

BTW, I think your websites incredible and I love your videos!

Awe thanks Dawn - the kind words and feedback are so appreciated! We've now fixed the berries ingredient filter so it will work if you refresh the website πŸ˜ƒ

Myrlinda - Feb. 26, 2023, 3:20 p.m.

So delicious! πŸ˜‹ I used cacao powder instead of cocoa. I feel supercharged this morning! 🌞😁

Myrlinda - Feb. 27, 2023, 4:27 a.m.

Oops... I meant to post this on the page for the Warm Tahini Chocolate Banana Wrap. πŸ€¦πŸΎβ€β™€οΈ I came over here to see how to stew berries and got so excited about breakfast while eating that I just picked up my phone and poster haha. I'll post my comment on that page. 😊

Haha stewed berries and cacao would be an interesting mix! Thank you, Myrlinda 😊

Kellie - Aug. 26, 2022, 8:23 p.m.

Love that this recipe doesn't add sugar or maple syrup to the fruit. It is perfect on its own! When it's cooled, I used this in my parfaits. so much better than anything store bought <3

PUL small logo PUL Team - Aug. 28, 2022, 7:22 p.m.

Love this one in parfaits as well! Thank you, Kellie πŸ™‚

So simple to make and so versatile. Pairs really well with PUL's yogurt parfait (and with oatmeals of course) - just yum! :)

Love making this in the winter! Goes great with pancakes, smoothies, oatmeal, and all kinds of desserts. Also great when berries are too soft to enjoy as a snack.

So thrilled you're enjoying the stewed berries, Ky - love the ideas πŸ˜ƒ

May - April 20, 2021, 3:53 a.m.

Made this for me and my housemate today and it worked perfectly. I thought there was more to it but this is nice and simple :)
