Ingredients
-
2ripe bananas
-
⅓ cup (80 mL)peanut butter
-
½ tsp
-
1½ cups (120 g)quick oats†
-
2 Tbsp (12 g)unsweetened shredded coconut
-
Directions
- Line a baking tray and preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C)*.
- Mash the bananas in a large bowl. Then mix together with the peanut butter until smooth.
- Add the remaining ingredients, and mix.
- Roll the dough into balls and place on the baking tray. Press to form each ball into a cookie shape, as the cookies don't spread in the oven. Press some more chocolate decoratively on top if desired.
- Bake on the middle rack of the oven for 10 - 12 minutes, or until golden.
- Allow the cookies to cool on the tray slightly before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. Enjoy!
Notes
- †If you don’t have quick oats, pulse regular rolled oats in a blender or food processor until coarsely chopped.
- * We used top and bottom heating (not fan-assisted/convection).
Storage
- Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.
- Store in the freezer for up to 2 months (great to enjoy for an on-the-go snack)!

Can the bananas be replace by applesauce or will it change too much the texture of the cookies and can the shredded coconut be replaced too ?
Love these cowboy cookies. The whole family enjoys them. Thank you!!
Our family favourite! I make them pretty much every week!
Super delicious! Will definitely make again and again.
I absolutely love these cookies and they are so easy to make
Yummy recipe I added blueberries to it and it was still tasty!
Nice!
Yummy, quick, healthy snack. Just what I was looking for today.🙂 Thanks for the recipe!
If you don't mind a strong banana taste they are great. I think that I would prefer to use something else because the banana over powers the chocolate.
These were delicious!! So easy and a great way to use up the bananas aging on the counter. Definitely will be a go-to on Sundays for the week.
Made these today as I should avoid regular sugar - I used 85%-chocolate, they turned out great! Thank you! :)
First time I didn't like a PUL recipe :( I scaled down the ingredients but something seemed to be very off since the mixture stayed extremely humid and it was nearly impossible to actually form cookies out of it although I followed the measurements 1:1. Added a bit more oats and some flour which still didn't solve the problem. Texture was very awkward and gum like.
Love how simple and quick these are to make!
Hey! Quick question. I can’t stand coconut. It makes my throat swell up.
So to replace them, I was wondering (beside taste) what function they serve? Could they be replaced by a flour, as in, are they used to ‘thicken’ the dough? Or could they just be left out?
These are so yummy and great to use the ripe bananas! I'm afraid they won't last very long! ;-)
Absolutely tasty! Made these to freeze for postpartum. Had to taste one because they smelled delicious and they are!
Not my taste. Too 'healthy', too soft.
Incredible! Really nice. I have almost never eaten peanut butter before and I love it now! The cookies are so tasty. I wanted to bake some for christmas for my family. But they were all gone an hour later :D
Sadly these were a miss for me. They were very bland. I wonder if a pinch of salt or some cinnamon might help.
These are delicious breakfast cookies that turn into all the time cookies. They are cost effective as well. The original recipe didn’t have you chop up the dried craisins and I think it tastes better when you leave them whole mixed into the cookies.
I have made this recipe dozens of times and it never fails. 😋 So easy, healthy and delicious!!!
I have been making these cookies for my son since he was weee and he's now 10! It's very simple to switch out ingredients as you see fit to accommodate taste and pantry items! Highly recommend as a healthier snack for picky eaters and sugar addicts.
These are great cookies, I tried adding walnuts and/or dates and they tasted delicious. We love these cookies <3
The best cookies 🍪 😋
Great and simple recipe. I baked these for my almost 3-year-old nephew who loves cookies and he approved 🥰
Easy tasty cookie recipe, impressed by the many help functions in the app🤩
Super easy and super tasty! I like that there is no oil or refined sugar in the recipe.
Great and easy recipe
Just made these today with my daughter and absolutely loved them. So simple to make and came out so perfectly. Definitely don’t feel bad about eating these for breakfast or as a treat. Thanks!! Your recipes never disappoint.
Just today I tried this delicious recipe 🤭 and it worked and it was awesome 🫠🤍
We recently rediscovered these and are planning to make them a staple for our family! We use sunflower butter (allergies) and it is so good!
We left these in the container on the counter overnight and just realized this says to keep them in the refrigerator. Is the fridge a must?
Mmmm so yummy. I used peanut butter as my nut butter. The combination of that and the banana really go well. It was quick, easy, and produces a lovely soft chewy cookie!
These guys nearly didn’t make it into the oven! So good raw! Next time I would double recipe as it seems quite a small amount. Still a do again recipe for sure!!
Our new favourite cookies… the whole family loves them.
Oh I just love these cookies! I keep making them for my family and friends. So easy so delicious you gotta try these ! You never feel bad eating them ;)
Made these exactly as the recipe called, and they turned out amazing. Definitely will make again!
Mine were a bit claggy. I had old fashioned oats that I pulsed maybe it became too powdery? But other than that, it’s great. The sweetness is surprisingly on point. My 4 year old is eating them well :)!
These were so good! I did swap the cranberries for dried cherry’s and omg that was so good with the chocolate.
These are delicious and "tick" all my food intolerances boxes - no gluten and no sugar! Easy to make with ingredients you have in your pantry and fridge
Loved them, nice little treat without sugar to trigger my cravings. Could not have been easier to make
Hi,
Why do you use quick oats instead of rolled oats?
Thanks,
Kangying
These were so delicious and exactly what I needed! I made these after completing a difficult exam as a treat for myself, and they were perfect. Thank you PUL.
Could I perhaps replace the banana with a flax egg? xx
I’ve made these a few times and they always turned out great! I absolutely LOVE that they are sweetened with the banana and it works so well!
(You may want to add an extra banana if you like them to be more moist).
My Aunty and uncle’s family who usually turn their nose up at healthy alternatives loved these too.
If anyone is still on the fence about making these, this is your sign to try them!
Easy to prepare! Really yummy!
I do this recipe again and again and again!
It has become a staple of my cooking!
It has everything: delicious, easy to do, quick, with easy to find ingredients and wholesome!
Thank you so much!
I have made these so many times n my daughter loves them..Love ur recipes..tried many of your recipes.. Awesome pick up limes!!
Im a huge pick up limes Fan and enjoy making loads of your recipes! I have a quick question about freezing snacks like Muffins, cookies or energy balls. How long do you have to let them defrost before you can eat them and what is the best way to defrost them? Thank you so much! 💓
Such a lovely sweet and wholesome cookie. Comes together super quick too.
Amazing! and soooo easy. Thank you!
As always, absolutely amazing!
I love how I can try any recipe on your website and it always turn out sooooo yummy :)
One of our favorite recipes. A very good way to use left over bananas.
Super!!
Yum!!! I was craving a chocolate cookie. But wanted to use the oatmeal I have at home. I used almond butter instead. And this is is oh so good. Had them last night as dessert. And this morning with yogurt and fruit and coffee. Perfect treat.
Wholesome tasty and super easy cookie recipe 🍪🍪🍪 you just can’t stop at one ❤️Highly recommended!
It was so flipping good!
I've made these cookies like a thousand times! My kids and I really love them. Thanks Sadia
Looks delicious you are giving us more variety receipes and more tips for other things as well. Keep on going Sadia and Robin!
Thank you for your hard working. I have tried your blue berry cup cake and it was nice.
I everyday cook curries, and some time I cook noodle similar to your style but we call Laksa in Malaysia, however now we are settled in Australia.
Once again Thank you
Shantini V :)
Can I freeze the cookies instead of baking? (I won't be using the chocolate)
I tried this recipe yesterday as my FIRST baking experience and I loved it!!! Thank you, Sadia and the whole Pick Up Limes team! Love from Toronto!
These were absolutely delightful and come together so quickly! A really nice blend of flavors and proportions. I'll definitely make these again!
I love these cookies! But I like to put a cherry in the middle und roll them into little balls. The time in the oven is a bit longer, but they are delicious!
Love these cookies! They are sooo addictive and really easy to make. And amazingly enough, also a healthier substitute than the sugary stuff.
Simple, delicious and nutritious! All we ask for, Thank you Sadia!
So good and nutritious!
This recipe is delicious (along with so many other recipes of yours). Thank you for all you do. Perfect after dinner treat.
Very tasty and chewy cookies.
Even got some friends to make it who also very much enjoyed them! :)
I've been meaning to try these cookies for a while now, finally did, and LOVE them! They're so easy, no muss-no fuss, super tasty, and convenient. I love that it feels like a splurge when, in fact, they offer so much nutrition.
These cookies are delicious. Initially they seemed a little bland to me because of the lower sugar, but I have come to enjoy these with my tea/coffee now. Swapped the cranberries and chocolate for some dried apricots and mangoes instead
I love making these cookies not only are they easy and delicious but great when you are short on time and forgot to make breakfast or even lunch.
Thank you
I'm loving this recipe, but what would you suggest in place of bananas for someone who strongly dislikes?
Thanks in advance!
Love those cookies!! I make them a lot
Hello!
Do you think using frozen bananas (unfreezed) could also work?
My 9 and 12 year old boys, who always complain when I make healthy recipes, loved these! Great for snacks!
I make these all the time, just adding different nuts, seeds and dried fruit, always delicious!
I made this recipe couple of times, and everyone from my family loves it. :)
… and i made another PUL recipe - this one. i needed to batch make sth for #backtoschool and this recipe was the best i could wish for! i added and substituted a couple of ingredients but they turned out GREAT! thanks again 🤎
Would it be possible to do these without the coconut and cranberries?
I absolutely love this recipe! It's the perfect amount of sweetness and a great way to use up ripe bananas. The 17 minute timeline is no joke either! It's so quick, easy, and satisfying. I'm really excited to try out more of Sadia's one-bowl cookie recipes!
Delicious cookies that are suitable for fika with tea and a fruit! I’m happy that you’ve develop so easy recipes for sweet snacks, which aren’t too bad for type 1 diabetics. These cookies hold together so well whilst being moist, and the pockets of chocolate are fun😋. For me, the only drawback is that the banana flavour became surprisingly strong. I can’t recall that I’ve had this issue before🤔. Lastly, a question: how flat do you make these cookies? I wasn’t sure if these cookies should be really moist or have a biscuit-like crunch
Hej Sadia, these look so delicious! Do you have any ideas how to swap out the banana? I would love to try these and the almond blueberry cookies, too, but my daughter can‘t stand banana..
They're so good and super easy to make! I've already made them many times.
They are so simple to make, healthy and sweet. Love the recipe!! 💖
These are great as a snack or a little dessert if you don't want to feel too heavy after a meal. Or heck, have several if that's what you want! I've done that! They are so simple because of the few ingredients, I love these. I go back to this recipe a couple of times a year actually lol, sometimes the cravings kick in and these cookies leave me feeling satiated and nourished every time
Made these cookies so many times and I'm still not tired of it.
It's tastes incredible and I feel better knowing it's made up of healthy ingredients.
I make these so much I’ve got the recipe committed to memory! Just sweet enough to satisfy a craving but not make you feel bad eating them for breakfast. I take them as plane snacks when I travel for work.
Really like these cookies which I made by this recepe. Just used raisins instead off dried cranberries and cacao nibs instead off chocolate since it's all l had. Still turned out delicious^^
Yum!! Super easy! Great for kids and adults!
Absolutely loved the cookies, thank you for sharing!
this is my absolute go-to cookie recipe and i have made it so so many times - and whenever i shared my cookies with friends, they immediately asked for the recipe! i highly recommend, super tasty, super nutritious, and such an easy snack to feel good as well 💖
Could I use applesauce instead of the banana?
This is my absolute favorite cookie recipe. As someone who needs their baked goods to be gluten free, this came as an absolute gift of moisture and gooeyness otherwise unknown in my vegan gf world. I make these when I’m sad and want cookies, I make them when I need a reward, and sometimes even make them for a quick breakfast-y snack because there’s not even any added sugar besides the chocolate chips! My husband and nanny kids who are not vegan also love these. Toasting the coconut is also an important step I don’t recommend skipping!
These are a staple in my daughter’s lunch box. The kids love to help me make these by smashing up the bananas.
Amazing! I make these every week as snacks to enjoy whilst working. Highly recommended
If you enjoy soft breakfast-style cookies, this is the perfect recipe for you!
These cookies have been in my rotation for a few years. They are so easy and my kids love them! It is so easy to swap ingredients too. I've used a variety of different dried fruits, a couple different nut butters. Sometimes I use chocolate chips, sometimes I don't, they're still delicious!
My tip for shaping them: I use a small ice cream scoop and then press them down with a fork
The cookies came out great! A bit sticky while forming them, but otherwise really easy to make. My family found them not sweet enough, but I think they make for a nice healthier snack option than store bought cookies. I'll make another batch soon, thanks for the great recipe! :D
Hey, thank you Saadia for all you share :)
I made the recipe and unfortunaltely I found the cookies too dense.
This is an amazing recipe. I have made it many times. Thanks.
Anjali from India
Can I use tahini instead of peanut butter? I'm allergic to it.
Can you use your air fryer instead of your oven?
Love them. I make them often
Just made these and they're amazing :)
I also really love these. I use them as breakfast cookies, they're really filling! They're great to store in the freezer, freeze them individually. Then put them in the oven for like ~5 minutes and they're nice and warm again.
I agree they're a bit sticky when forming them but it's not really a problem for me :)
(also, love the updated site! Finally we can comment on individual recipes!)
Easy to make, quite sticky when you form the cookies. But the taste is very good and I like that there is no additional sugar despite the chocolate. Next time I will take cacoa nibs, I like the crunch and it's without sugar then.
Delicious healthy snack or dessert and perfect to batch bake for work/school lunches. I used dried apricots with mine. Will definitely make regularly as they are easy, wholesome pantry staples.
