These are so good!! Note to others: I used regular white wheat flour and had to add some more flour, so the dough isn't too wet.

This is the BEST eggless Hot Cross Buns recipe I've ever used! I grew up eating hot cross buns on Good Friday and have been making them for years as an adult but I was never satisfied with the outcomes. Ever recipe had eggs which for me is not traditional and the other vegan ones used applesauce. This one was perfect!! It was soft and easy to make. Thank you!!

Gosh we're so happy to hear that the hot cross buns were enjoyed, Svetlanna! Thanks for sharing your experience and personal connection to the recipe ☺️

Hello! I wander if you can let the dough rest in the fridge overnight instead of resting it somewhere warm for one hour? Any advice is welcome😊
PUL Team - April 14, 2025, 10:23 p.m.
Hey Dascha, yes, you can let the dough rest in the fridge overnight. Just be sure to bring it back to room temperature and let it rise until doubled before baking 🙂

I made these yesterday and they are sooooo delicious and soft. I used dark choc chips instead of raisin and didn't do the cross on top as I dnt like them too sweet. It really is a perfect recipe, so quick and easy. The dough was so easy to work and lovely and soft to touch. Thank you PUL for another great recipe ❤️

Aw we're so glad you loved them, Nezhlya! Dark chocolate chips are such a great twist, and we totally get skipping the cross for less sweetness. Thanks for sharing your experience 🥰

Yum, maybe needs more cinnamon. Going to try it toasted in the morning.

Great flavor and texture. I also used citrus rinds and glazed cherries and it turned out very well.
Alexis Bushnell - Feb. 10, 2024, 10:48 p.m.
These are delicious!
I'm not sure if I made an error but the dough was very wet. It still baked ok but I had to use a lot of flour on my work surface and rolling pin to stop it sticking.

Hey Alexis, thanks for sharing your experience with the hot cross buns. It sounds like there may have been too much liquid or not enough flour in the mixture. In case you used cup measurements, it can help to ensure that the flour isn't too loosely packed in the cup, but rather, gently spooned into the measuring cup and levelled. The consistency can also depend on the type of flour you use. We used bread flour for this recipe.

Beautiful recipe! The steps are a little out of order after incorporating the raisins, at least on my end.
PUL Team - Dec. 8, 2023, 7:22 p.m.
Hey there, Priscila, oh goodness our apologies for that! Thanks for catching it and letting us know. We've updated the order now 🤗

My toddler is a picky eater but he loves this from the bakery. So glad to have found a recipe to make the buns at home. Saves money and sugar intake :-)

Aw we hope your little one enjoys the recipe, Kasu!

I love the fluffiness and ease of these!! The bottoms of the rolls were too crisp so I’ll need to something different next time to help that texture. I would also make a version of these with extra nutmeg and no raisins.

Thanks so much for sharing your experience with the recipe, Sydney 🤗
