Harnessing the bold flavours of gochujang, a Korean chili paste, this recipe reinvents tofu, transforming its reputation from uninspiring to irresistible. Perfect for those who view tofu as mundane, these spicy, umami-packed cubes are a delight on their own or as a dynamic addition to any stir-fry.
Ensure the tofu is sufficiently pressed before cutting it into 1 cm cubes*.
Add the tofu cubes to a large bowl, along with the cornstarch, oil, salt, and pepper. Gently toss to coat.
Heat up a large pan over high heat and add the tofu. Cook until golden. Try to not disturb the tofu too much to avoid crumbling.
Meanwhile, mix all the sauce ingredients in a small bowl. Set aside.
When the tofu is crisped to your liking, transfer it to a plate. Return the same pan to the heat, and add the oil. When hot, add the garlic, shallot, chilis, and green onion. Cook for 4 - 5 minutes.
Reduce the heat to medium-high and add the sauce, cooking for another 4 - 5 minutes or until the sauce becomes sticky.
Add the tofu to the pan, and stir to coat. Garnish, serve, and enjoy!
Notes
†Gochujang is a Korean fermented red chili paste, which has a sweet, savoury, and spicy flavour profile. It can be found in most Asian supermarkets, but you could also substitute it with another hot sauce, such as Sriracha, if desired.
* The more liquid that can be drained, the quicker the tofu cooks and the crispier it gets.
Storage
The tofu can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.

This has become my go to tofu recipe! It's incredible! Simple but delicious.
I tried freezing a portion and it still tastes great! The tofu is just more soft now.

We’ve been making this for many years now and it’s still a favorite. So good! I just reduce the syrup, because it would be too sweet for my taste.

Do you use a tofu press? if so which one do you use? Thanks!
PUL Team - Oct. 21, 2024, 2:25 p.m.
Hi Roz, thanks for your interest in the tofu recipe 🤗 We don't use a press personally, but you could if you'd like. We press our tofu typically by removing it from the container, wrapping it in a clean dishcloth or a few layers of paper towel, placing a heavy object on top (like a heavy pan), and letting it sit. 10 - 15 minutes should do, but the longer you can let it drain, the better!

Delicious and pretty simple to make but very spicy. Just a heads up if you are Gluten free or cooking for someone who is, my Gochugang paste had wheat in it. Almost got in trouble cos it's not marked in the recipe and my sister in law is celiac. I split the recipe and used sriracha for her and she enjoyed it. If you can find gochugang it is definitely the superior option though.

Love this recipe. I seasoned the cornstarch with very good garlic Tabitha brown seasoning and it really helped with the flavor. I found that the sauce has great flavor but when you bite into the tofu you want to also taste the flavor on the inside and that helped. Another great recipe!

Hey, just to tell you that the search ingredient feature on this website seems to be skewed now. I searched for 'green beans' - string beans in the search bar, as in the 'include ingredients ' it DOESNT exist.. And i got 10 pages of results, including this one, and 90 percent of them dont actually include green beans at all. thats frustrating since i got half kilo of it to use from an app. could you please see to it ? Would be very helpful, thanks !
PUL Team - May 6, 2024, 8:42 p.m.
Hi there, Alice, thanks for flagging this for us and for your patience with searching for recipes. The search bar in the app is formatted to find recipes based on the recipe's name (so in this case, the app was searching for recipes with the name "green" or "bean" in the title). If you're looking to include or exclude certain ingredients specifically, I'll welcome you to tap the filter icon to the right of the search bar, scroll down to the header called "Include Ingredients" and search for green beans there. This should help you find recipes that include green beans. In case you don't see green beans as an option, close the app and re-open it, and you should see it there :) I hope this helps for now, and if you ever need support with anything else just pop us an email at [email protected] 💌
Luiza Alice - May 8, 2024, 1:19 p.m.
Yes, I assumed this much. Now I’m on the app, and checked, thankfully including green beans was proposed on the app, but I was talking about the website. And there it doesn’t exist. As I don’t always wanna cook with my phone, so use your website for simpler recipes. Or is the app available on windows laptop ? And exclude ingredients is indeed helpful, as my app remembers I wanna exclude dill and Brussels sprouts, I just hope I’m not kissing out on the recipes you can replace or exclude them ;]
PUL Team - May 8, 2024, 5:58 p.m.
Hey Luiza, glad green beans are loading on the app as an option to include or exclude! If you refresh the website, it should show up as an option to select. Sometimes closing tabs and re-opening them, or deleting our website history can help refresh website pages. The app is currently available on iOS and Android phones plus select tablets, but not yet on laptops. Perhaps one day we can share a desktop version!

Hey Kruti, so glad that you're enjoying the app and recipes! While dark vinegar will add a different flavour you could use it as a substitute. Just be mindful that dark vinegar tends to be stronger, so you might want to start with less and add more to taste 😊

How do you crisp up the tofu in the frying pan? With high heat, as instructed, when I lifted some up with a spatula after 5 minutes, the underside has not crisped up. Help would be much appreciate!
RM
PUL Team - Jan. 21, 2024, 10:29 p.m.
Hey there, RM, thanks for the question. Pre-heating the pan can do wonders if you notice your pan takes long to warm up. Otherwise, some other tips include being sure to use firm or extra-firm tofu, press out excess moisture before cooking, cut slightly smaller sized cubes, and allow the tofu to cook for a touch longer. Even 1-2 minutes longer can make a big difference 🤗

Made this recipe last night, unfortunately, the tofu is stuck. But it still turned out tasting INCREDIBLE. Probably my fault that the tofu stuck… I am always so eager to move it around. But I also think I don’t have a good pan, so thank you for providing me with the details on yours.!!!!
LOVED YOUR RECIPE
PUL Team - Dec. 15, 2023, 1:36 a.m.
Oh no! We're glad the taste was enjoyed despite the tofu sticking, Rachael. Using a non-stick pan, lowering the heat, and adding a touch more oil (such as vegetable oil) can help achieve a firmer texture and more golden colour without the tofu sticking to the pan. It may be tempting to stir tofu a lot, but sometimes letting tofu sit undisturbed at a lower temperature can do wonders. Once the proteins in tofu cook, they naturally "let go" of the pan more easily 🤗

Love it! I made this twice - first time frying tofu in the pan and the second time in the air fryer. I preferred the air fryer because it used much less oil and was still super crispy. But I want to try it with tempeh. Do you think it will work using the same method but with tempeh? Please let me know!
PUL Team - Dec. 9, 2023, 6:33 a.m.
So glad you enjoyed the recipe, Sanne! Air frying tempeh should work well using a similar method. You might need to adjust the cooking time as tempeh may need a bit longer to get crispy. Let us know if you experiment with it 🤗

PUL Team - Nov. 25, 2023, 12:43 a.m.
Hey Meena, thanks for your interest in the spicy garlic tofu recipe! We tend to use a sodium-reduced sauce which is a light soy sauce. You could use dark soy sauce for a more intense flavour and colour if you'd like though. Just be sure to give the sauce a taste and adjust as needed.

I have been wanting to make this recipe for weeks, and I finally got to it today. I used fennel instead of the shallot, and used the “make” feature on the app for the first time (very helpful for those of us with executive function deficits in organization) WOW!!! What an amazing Flavor!! My husband ❤️’d the smell in the kitchen! Maybe I’ll convince him of the benefits of your vegan recipes yet!! 🌶️

Has anyone tried freezing this?
PUL Team - May 31, 2023, 1:53 a.m.
Hi there, Charlotte, we haven't tried freezing it, but would to hear if anyone else has! Our hesitation to trying is because tofu can hold on to ice crystals with its porous structure, so when it thaws the recipe could become more liquidy and soggy. It should still taste delicious though. Do let us know if you give it a try 🙂

One of the best Tofu-recipes online. It's quite simple but the taste is soooo good. It's an easy weeknight dinner. I tried it the first time when you uploaded the video and it's in our rotation since then. Thanks for all the amazing recipes. You really helped me transitioning to a vegan nutrition. I watched your videos before going vegan and it showed me how versatile the vegan kitchen can be. So i just went vegan :)

Delicious! Really enjoyed this recipe. Really versatile - just change up the sauce and what you put it on top of. I’m guessing this isn’t intended to be eaten alone as this amount isn’t 4 servings for adults. I could eat the whole recipe by myself. If you double the sauce and put it over rice with broccoli or some other veggie on the side then yes, it could be 4 servings.

Hey Roy, we're so disappointed to hear as this is one of our favourite tofu recipes! Were all of the ingredients and portion sizes used as recommended in the recipe? We suspect that an ingredient or serving amount may have been slightly off. For example, perhaps "tsp" instead of "tbsp" was used for the sauces which could impact the flavour, or a different sauce was used than listed? We'd love to get to the bottom of it if able 🙂
Roy - Aug. 6, 2022, 3:04 p.m.

The best thing about this recipe is that I no longer need it. I’ve made it so many times (weekly) that I don’t have to measure or time anything, and I’m confident substituting and adding whatever ingredients I have on hand, and it’s always our favorite meal. This really taught me a lot about tofu, and I’m getting more accustomed to increasing amounts of whatever peppers I have on hand. Oh, a friend clued me in to sub quinoa for whatever rice I cook to go with this, so we get even more protein! And I always pile on the green or mixed veggies. So healthful, beautiful, simple, quick, and delicious, Thanks so much for such a great recipe!

I LOVE this recipe! I didn’t have any of the aromatics on hand besides garlic and it still turned out amazing! I also used a store bought sriracha sauce instead of gochujang. Tapioca starch works instead of cornstarch or arrowroot, but it does make the tofu stick together, so keep that in mind. Definitely a go-to recipe that I will be making again! Thank you PUL for always putting out amazing content. (Plus, I love the features on your website for filtering recipes, adjusting measurements, and crossing things out). Just made this recipe for 10 of us aboard a catamaran sailing in the BVI. I brought my own tiny airline-okay tube of gochujang! Unfortunately, the stores in BVI only had firm tofu, not extra-firm, and arrowroot powder instead of cornstarch. Although the texture wasn’t crispy (due to the unfirm tofu) and the color wasn’t brown (we all learned that arrowroot will not brown!), the sauce was so delicious that everyone really liked the new-to-them dish anyway. I made a double sauce recipe, and our one sailor who doesn’t eat tofu said it made her sauteed shrimp rock! Now that my hubby and I are back home, I’m making this tonight using all the right ingredients. It’s my favorite easy, delicous, healthful recipe.

Question: what are people using to substitute the Gochujang sauce? I grabbed a sweet chilli sauce off the rack at my store but I'm ready to try something new. 😋😋
Alsoooooo, I just realized that increasing the number of servings adjusts the ingredients. My inner geek is sooooooo happy about this.

Great recipe full of flavors!! I cooked the sauce with sauteed eggplant and mushrooms and they went together pretty well. I grew up eating tofu the traditional Japanese way only, and finding this new and innovative way of preparing and appreciating tofu was an eye-opening experience to me.
I loved the crispness of the tofu, too. When I make agedashi-tofu (deep-fried tofu dipped in dashi sauce), I used to use potato starch (most commonly used in the Japanese kitchen), but I will start using corn starch! (I love these tips Sadia shares in her YouTube videos:-)

The tofu was absolutely delicious; its taste reminds me of a dish that my mother often makes. My brother enjoyed it as well! For the corn flour, I substituted arrow-root powder — and found that the tofu stuck together quite a bit. Over-all, it required a bit of labour to separate the pieces. Notwithstanding, I would do it over and over again because this recipe is just so good. I think it might be a matter of my not pressing the tofu enough, but thank you so much for this recipe!

This recipe cured my FOT! (Fear of Tofu) I just recently became a vegan cook, but avoided tufu recipes because I was completely unfamiliar with it. All of the reviews here convinced me to try it. The first time I tried it, I followed the recipe as written and wound up making “Spicy Garlic Brittle with crispy Tofu”. It was really good, but because the heat was on High, the garlic burned immediately and the sauce zoomed past sticky to brittle. But it was SO delicious, and I served it with brown rice and broccoli. I just made it again, using a much lower heat and it turned out perfectly, served with green beans and jasmine rice. Thanks for such a great Beginner Tofu recipe!

Making this for the 4th time. It’s our favorite new-to-me vegan dish. Thanks again, for sharing your creativity and expertise. I’d give this 5-stars now, since I reckoned with my Hades-hot electric stove and got a new ceramic non-stick pan. No more spicy garlic brittle and uncleanable skillet!

Hello hello Sadia! I've tried out this recipe many many times during Lent last year, and it was so good!! I had to swap out the gochujang with another chilli sauce I had (still with the umami flavor!) and it turned out delicious despite the swap! This spicy garlic tofu really ticks all the boxes for me, and it was a go to meal for me every Friday during Lent. Thanks so much for sharing this recipe with us!

So so good! Only thing is I tried adding mushrooms and the sauce became quite watery rather than sticky. When would you suggest adding extra veg (mushrooms, broccoli, peppers etc) or should those just be made on the side? Thanks always for all the recipes - I’ve loved them all!
PUL Team - July 26, 2021, 9:01 p.m.
Hi Michelle, thanks for sharing! It sounds like the mushrooms may have been wet and added a bit too much liquid to the sauce. Perhaps cooking them separately and adding the veggies after may be easier to help them dry out while also giving more control for the cooking time! Either way would work though based on your preferences 🙂

This recipe has joined my usual rotation. Depending on what I'm serving the tofu with, I will either pan fry like the recipe describes, or toss it in the air fryer or oven while I make something else on the stove. Either way the Gochujang sauce is incredible! I have even used a variation of it on roasted broccoli.

This is my go-to vegan dish for non-vegan friends & family- an instant hit with everyone I’ve ever made it for! I serve this with a side of rice and vegetables, not noodles, as seen in the pictures above, though I think either would be good. I also use de-seeded jalapeño peppers instead of red hot chili peppers, so I assume that makes it slightly less spicy. This dish gets completely devoured each time I make it, so I recommend doubling up if you want to have leftovers or are hosting a larger crowd.

One of my favorite recipes. I usually combine this tofu recipe with broccoli and rice. By the way, I don't care that much about cooking the tofu and the spicy vegetables seperately. I just throw in the shallot, garlic, chili and green onion in the pan with the tofu half way through to save time.

I made this with Frank's Hot Sauce bcs i didn't have Goguchang, and i had it with a stir fry and some quinoa; it was pretty good and super easy to make. But I want to do it with the Goguchang bcs I felt that it was not as spicy as I thought it was going to be. I don't know how spicy Goguchang is, but I really wanted to have that flavour kick. Still, i was pretty happy with the result of this recipe

Thanks!
Resep yang sangat membantu. 🙏

I made this for my niece who was a certified tofu hater until this dish! She even asked me for the recipe weeks later! It’s so good. I keep coming back to it!
This recipe is so tasty. This app is really helping me find back my passion to cook. Thank you 🤍
So tasty!!!
It was easy to prepare. I loved the sauce, and plan to use it for rice and vegetables stir fry. I used Sriracha instead of Korean sauce, I want to try it next time.
So yummy! Made this for lunch today and it was delicious. Definitely one of my fav tofu recipes! Thank you for sharing :) I’ll have to try your other recipes soon!
Tasty and nutritious 👍
This is so simple and flavorful. Served it with jasmine rice:)
So good my favorite vegan meal.
Really tasty the best Tofu recipe I’ve tried
So good! Family loved it. Will be making again for sure!
Love this recipe.
I seasoned the cornstarch with very good garlic Tabitha brown seasoning and it really helped with the flavor.
I found that the sauce has great flavor but when you bite into the tofu you want to also taste the flavor on the inside and that helped.
Another great recipe!
I added this tofu to my salad for a protein source (after letting it cool to room temperature) and it was absolutely perfect! I think it could also be used in some sort of wrap
I made this today without the spicy element and yet it was delicious. I made some basmati rice to go with. I also made your vegan coleslaw for a side dish. Thank you for your creative and innovative approach for delicious vegan cuisine!
Flavour bomb dish that's been on our weekly rotation for over a year. Easy & Delish. Sometimes I'll air fry the tofu or use vegan chicken instead. Our fav dinner each week 😋

I made this dish tonite and also added eggplant which I needed to use. It came out delicious. Also , substituted the red chilies which were not available for cayenne pepper and it turned great!
Kinda off topic, but does anyone know what pan she's using to cook the tofu in the video? I've been looking for a good quality, non-toxic nonstick(ish) pan like that...
An absolutely delicious recipe! I decided the fry the tofu in the air fryer first to save time. Then, I added the sauce and sautéed onions, spring onion + chillies after. So crispy and flavourful 🥰
Very good!
Made more sauce and ate it with rice.
My most favorite tofu recipe of all time! I added this to some vegan sushi. It was phenomenal. Even my sister-in-law (who’s a very picky eater and will gag at the thought of vegan food) loved it.

Love it! I made this twice - first time frying tofu in the pan and the second time in the air fryer. I preferred the air fryer because it used much less oil and was still super crispy. But I want to try it with tempeh. Do you think it will work using the same method but with tempeh? Please let me know!
Really tasty, definitely going on to my regular rotation.
Love this recipe, we have done it so many times!
hi Sadia,
Thanks for sharing this recipe. I would like to know what soy sauce you are using, is it light or dark? and could you please share the recipe for the noodle stir fry dish that you show at the end? It looks incredibly delicious. :)
Meena
Easy and delicious recipe
I keep coming back for this one.
I have made this dish over and over, it's always a winner, even with friends who aren't vegetarian/vegan!! It is also so easy and I usually have all of the ingredients in my fridge.
I loved this tofu recipe! Might be in my weekly rotation!
This was absolutely amazing! Super delicious, the sauce was delicious too! It has the right level of spice; not overly spicy, but just the right amount.
I LOVE this tofu recipe! It is so tasty!
Try to make this at least once every two weeks! It is soooo yummy and honestly a very forgiving/flexible recipe, I couldn't recommend it more! Thanks so much Sadia and the rest of the PUL for all of your hard work and amazing recipes :)
Easy to make and the flavors were so complex and delicious. I took another reviewer’s suggestion and air fried the tofu which turned out great. I also didn’t add the red chili but it was still spicy enough for us. Will definitely make this one again.
This was so delicious! Enjoyed it with some white basmati rice and steamed snap peas. I’ll definitely be making this again and again!
Doubled the sauce/peppers/garlic/shallot/green onion and added soba noodles. Perfect date night meal!
Very delicious, excellent flavor. I subbed a red onion and caramelized it
Yum! I didn’t have the chili peppers so substituted with some red pepper. Was pretty spicy without the chilies! Will definitely make this recipe again. Thank you for another winner!
Easy and flavorful tofu dish! Served with lettuce wraps
This was quick and amazingly delicious. I cooked my tofu in the air fryer for extra crispness. I had to stop eating or I would have eaten the whole batch myself in one sitting!
I never knew Tofu could be soooo tasty. Thank you so much!!!
My husband is not a fan of tofu but when he took his first bite of this, he said WOW. We both enjoyed it very much. Will be making it again.
I’m not vegan but I enjoy these recipes. This was my first time making tofu and I have to get used to the texture but I like it !
One of my all-time favorite recipes to make for friends and family! I’ve gotten so many compliments on this dish, even from people who aren’t vegetarian/vegan and weren’t expecting to like it. To make it a balanced meal, I’ve served it with coconut rice (or plain rice- both are good) and pan-roasted veggies. The sauce can also be good on cooked veggies :)
It taste so great~!
Especially with rice and add soy sauce to the rice. Amazing combo
Delicious!!!!
This was so delicious. It was quick and easy to make. I love it. 😍😍
Yummy yummy yummy!! 😋😋😋
This is my go to when I’m in the mood for something quick with a kick. I love this recipe.
This recipe introduced my household to what is now a staple in our home: Gochujang.
Love love love!
Tofu is officially one of my favs now:)
One of the best Tofu-recipes online. It's quite simple but the taste is soooo good. It's an easy weeknight dinner. I tried it the first time when you uploaded the video and it's in our rotation since then. Thanks for all the amazing recipes. You really helped me transitioning to a vegan nutrition. I watched your videos before going vegan and it showed me how versatile the vegan kitchen can be. So i just went vegan :)
Cette recette est tout simplement à tomber par terre ! Trop trop bon ! C’est devenu un classique chez nous 👌
delicious!! i double the sauce and add broccoli as well. one of my favorites, super quick and easy and a crowd pleaser!
This recipe is absolutely phenomenal! I double the portions every time and make a side of broccoli. I could easily eat this every month for the rest of my life - thank you!
This recipe is so delicious. It was easy to make & the flavor is so good. I think this is now my new favorite meal. After avoiding tofu for years because I didn’t know what to do with it, Pick up Limes has made it a staple in my diet.
I have started using my air fryer for the tofu and it turns out lovely after around 10. The recipe is delicious, thank you!
Out of this world. Loved!
Absolutely delicious! The whole family loved it and we are definitely adding this to our recipe book. Stir fried veggies (capsicum and zucchini) in other pan and added cooked noodles.
My boyfriend, who is a meat-lover, has never enjoyed tofu - however, this was a success. I've never heard him ask for more tofu! The crispiness - together with the sauce - makes this dish really good.
Super delicious! I didn't mix in the oil with the tofu and instead did a shallow fry with the oil in a wok, and it turned out AMAZING. Super crispy and delicious. Amazing starter dish for anyone trying to get into tofu
Loved it! Delicious!
i just tried this recipe last night and i love it!!! it taste just so damn good!!! love this recipe !!!
Hi, I don’t have a red chili could I use a jalapeño or something else?
I put in a yellow bell pepper instead of the green onions. This dish is absolutely wonderful🥰🥰🥰 it's spicy and also a bit sweet... yummy
I am not super good at cooking by any means and I think tofu can taste kind of funky sometimes but I made this easily and it was sooo good. I didn't know that if you don't disturb the tofu it won't crumble as much, that was a very helpful tip. 11/10 rating :)
This is phenomenal! Didn't have maple syrup so I substituted a mix of golden syrup and treacle, and it was delicious! A struggle not to just eat it all at once but I'll be happy to have the leftovers for lunch tomorrow :)
Great recipe! Will try it again with lower heat, because the onions began burning. Still tasted great, though
OMG! I make PUL recipes all the time and decided to start looking into tofu recipes since I’ve never found a tofu recipe I like elsewhere, and my god this one was heaven. I crisped the tofu in the air fryer and then transferred to a pan to mix with the glaze. I’m currently eating this whole drinking the cold brew recipe (not a great combo) but still yummy!!!! Thank you!!
Hi....we have been addicted to tofu for going on thirty years.....going to try this tonight with my special fried rice that is our absolute favourite
I'm so glad I came across your channel....our evening meals are about to become even more exciting
Non vegans simply don't know what they are missing.......Linda x
Terrible, lovely fragrance, tasted vile, it was all thrown in the bin 😢
Thanks, team! This was absolutely delicious :) I completely forgot to add the sesame seeds but was tasty regardless.
This tofu is AMAZING. It’s perfectly spicy and sticky and a little sweet, which I absolutely love. I made this for just myself today but I think even my partner (who is still skeptical of tofu) will love this dish because I will definitely make this again! Thanks to all the PUL crew for this recipe!
This is so good!!
Thanks Team PUL - just tried this delish recipe for the 1st time and it was a hit!! In addition to the sesame seeds, added cilantro to the garnish. My wife was amazed that my picky son finished 3 bowls so fast;) I think roasted peanuts or cashews will go well with this, will try next time.
I just made this for the second time in three days, it's so good. Next time I'll make the double amount of sauce, cause it's absolutely delicious. Had it with some fried broccoli and vermicelli noodles, great combo. Thank you everyone at PickUpLimes:)!
This was sooooo delicious! I'm curious what type of pan you are using to cook the tofu? The sauce was incredible! Thank you for sharing such a great recipe. I can't wait to make it again and share it with friends!
I am not the best cook, but I made this for lunch and loved it! I did not even have all the ingredients and it was still amazing. Will try it again with everything next time.
Robin, Kudos to you. The blog looks very crisp and very aesthetically pleasing.
I tried the recipe today, I substituted shallots for red peppers, gochujang with Sriracha and rolled them in tortillas. Like any other Sadia's recipe these turned out to be very flavorful.
I just made this, newly vegan but have been watching your amazing content for a couple of years now. I love it, this is going to get me to commit better to my diet change when I'm so easy to convince myself everything is too hard. Thank you, this was fantastic. Also I oven baked my tofu at 325°f for half an hour because I forgot to press it haha, it made it nice and crispy.
This is a go-to for us. Paired with rice and a veggie on the side, it makes an incredible weeknight dinner! Thanks Sadia, Robin, and the rest of the Pick Up Limes team!
Best tofu recipe ever!
This is life changing recipe!! Make this so often. I can not recommend this one enough. Thank you for sharing this tasty dish. :)
Just made it and it was so good!!! Definitely making it again!
Best tofu ever! It changed my relationship with tofu 😂❤️ I make it 2-3 times a week, highly suggested!
AWESOMEEE
Find myself making this one again and again, so easy and delicious! Thanks you <3
LOVE this! i've made it a few times and I double the sauce as recommended by reviewers. It's one of my staples now.
Excellent recipe! Easily my new favorite tofu recipe. I did double the sauce since I added some veggies to the stir fry. I also reduced the garlic to 3 cloves and omitted the chillies. Turned out amazing.
I make this dish all the time and it's always hugely popular. But we are drowning in eggplant in our garden so I hacked the recipe and made a version of braised eggplant. Basically, I used the method of Chinese Braised Eggplant but used this sauce plus about 1/2 cup of water as the braising liquid. Delicious!
One of the best vegan recipes I've ever made! Tasted like Kung Pao chicken
YUM! This recipe is so easy to follow. I paired with some brown rice, large lettuce leaves, sautéed veg & made it all into lettuce wraps. I still have leftovers that I’m so exited to eat for lunch tomorrow. Definitely looking forward to making this one again!
You make the vegan lifestyle so much easier. 🥰
I have always been so scared to cook tofu but this recipe has totally changed my mind. It was so easy when you follow the steps and tips. This will now be in my constant rotation and tastes amazing!!!
Eeekkk!! I love love this recipe (yet I do not like Tofu). Haha!! You have converted me. This was my first time voluntary making Tofu 👀... I've made it twice so far. The second time, I doubled it. I have also shared it with friends...
I really love this recipe! It's super quick, easy, and tasty. It definitely has some kick so I scale back on the spice a bit but always enjoy it. I serve it with rice or noodles (depending on what I am feeling) and I sometimes double the sauce and add in some mushrooms as well. This is one of my go to recipes to use up leftover tofu.
Came out amazing! I recommend making double the sauce!
The sauce is SO good!!! I omitted the chili peppers since I knew the gochujang I was using had enough heat for me. I also put the tossed tofu in my air fryer and air fried them at 400F for 20 mins flipping halfway through. I swapped a small onion for the shallot and honey for maple syrup and it was still incredible!!! Definitely worthwhile to press the tofu for 30 mins to drain out excess moisture!
Really good, quick and simple! Will use in my rotation.
This is a great recipe. I used to not like tofu. However, this dish made me eat it by the spoonful right from the pan.
I've been vegan for about 2 years and I gave up on tofu at home fairly early because I just never liked the taste or texture. This recipe knocked it out of the park for me! I froze the tofu first and defrosted it, so I think that helped the texture for me. I served mine with some ramen noodles that I tossed in a mixture of hoisin and soy sauce. Absolute MUST MAKE!
Best tofu ever!
I will definitely make this again!
Tastes amazing and easy to make. First time making tofu at home and now, its my to-go tofu recipe!
This has become a go-to recipe in our house! We always add a little steamed broccoli on the side and it’s just so good!
You are an amazing person thank you so much and your incredible team for all the hard work
Amazing! 😍😍
I used to despise tofu and could have never seen myself enjoying it under any form. I finally found a recipe that I love and look forward to making! It's the perfect mix between spicy and sweet. :)
This was my first time trying tofu in a stir fry!
I've only had it in stews before so I was really curious how this recipe would turn out... and I LOVED it!!
Wow, super yummy and so spicy!
I substituted gochujang with chinese chili bean paste (Doubanjiang), added a little dash of Korean red pepper flakes (gochugaru) and omitted the soy sauce since I'm allergic to it. I will definitely make this again <3
Loved this recipe, the sauce was absolutely amazing!! Brought me back to my time in Korea
We love this dish-- have been making it almost weekly for over a year. We enjoy it with rice and broccoli. We like to do one and half times the sauce amount for a little extra, but otherwise no alterations. Great recipe!
Such a nice recipe and spice combination ! 🔥 thank you !
Holy shit this spice is NO JOKE. Only used one pepper and I’m still sweating. Was good asf tho. 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾
I've made this two times within a week and every time I think of this dish my mouth starts to water again hahaha! I absolutely love the deep umami flavour these magical tofu cubes possess. I'm obsessed! I rate this a 7 out of 5 >:)
I love this recipe so much !!! Thank you :)
Delish!
This is sooo good. 10/10 would make it again. Thank you PUL team!
I make this recipe all the time. It's delicious and really easy to pull together. We often eat it with stir-fried vegetables and rice. Great for any weeknight dinner! Thank you, PUL!
Is there a list of all the excess vegetables in the tofu dish? Other then what is in the recipe.
I wasn't a big fan of tofu but this recipe was delicious! So fast and easy to make as well! Will definitely make this again
My boyfriend was the most anti-tofu person ever until I persuaded him to try this dish. He has been a convert ever since and requests for it every week! We've made this dish served with rice countless times and have gone through several tubs of Gochujang - only for this dish! Yes, it is that good! We thank you for this recipe! :)
Delicious sweet and sour spicy tofu. Even those who usually are not big fans of tofu will love it. <3
I've made this dish before and have had great success, but this time I tried air-frying the tofu and it was a complete game changer! I got it so much crispier and it made this amazing dish even more delicious!
Delicious! Definitely a family favorite!!
Absolute amazing recipe with tofu, one of my fave of all the time
Delicious and I found this quite easy to make. Served it as a side (and added protein) for some soup with some rice. Will definitely make this again.
This recipe is fav in our house. Total crowd pleasing and easy to put together. Sooo grateful for awesome quick tofu recipe.
This is definitely something I will make again and again and again! You nailed it with the flavour profile with such simple ingredients!!
Hello Sadia! Incredible recipe. When I told my family I was cooking tofu, they made weird faces haha but once I served it, they were amazed and would not stop talking about it and asked me to make it again the next day! Really really good Thanks so much!
This is our favorite tofu recipe! Its the best!
This is my go to tofu recipe! I use it weekly and have many friends and family who are a fan as well! It's the best combination of sweet, salty and spiciness. Also there can never be too much garlic in my opinion! Definitely recommend to everyone :)
So so good! Only thing is I tried adding mushrooms and the sauce became quite watery rather than sticky. When would you suggest adding extra veg (mushrooms, broccoli, peppers etc) or should those just be made on the side? Thanks always for all the recipes - I’ve loved them all!
Fantastic recipe! Super flavorful, exactly what I was craving! I’ve made this probably 10 times since finding this recipe and it’s yummy every time.
Simple, but delicious! Easy go-to weeknight recipe idea!
This is my absolute favorite recipe on the site since it's quite simple to make yet packs a lot of taste - it's a staple I have practically every week now!
Looking forward to more tofu variations <3
Do you think this would work with cauliflower instead of tofu?
I'm on a journey of discovering tofu recipes I like, this one is my favourite so far!
I definitely recommend adding chopped shiitake mushrooms when making this recipe. It goes really well with the sauce :P
So delicious.
It was my first time trying tofu, and this recipe was soo flavorful! I've now made it at least 4 times to go with a stir-fry. One of my favorite PUL recipes! 😊
This was delicious. Didn't have any of the chilli paste so used sriracha! Very good
One of my favorite recipes. I usually combine this tofu recipe with broccoli and rice. By the way, I don't care that much about cooking the tofu and the spicy vegetables seperately. I just throw in the shallot, garlic, chili and green onion in the pan with the tofu half way through to save time.
I never had any luck with tofu before now, but this recipe is great !
This is probably my favorite recipe, it's a weekly goto for me!
This is the tastiest tofu that I've ever eaten. For real real 😁
I came from YT where you talked about the comments that were lost and I feel like for each recipe that I open to leave a comment about my experience I get more excited and hungrier even though I just ate. I think this is a good sign 😁
Thank you for your work Sadia and the team!
Did you know that if you make a double batch it is equally delicious in sushi for lunch the next day? I didn't, until a friend of mine who lives alone told me. There is never any leftovers when I make this at my house. This is a super yummy, easy recipe that I make all the time because it is always a winner in my house. Love it!
I absolutely LOVE this recipe. It took me a couple of tries to get the consistency of the sauce right, but it was so worth it. I have this about once a week and share it with my mom and we both truly enjoy it.
I've never really known what exactly to do with tofu but this video was totally life-changing! Even my boyfriend (who isn't vegan) absolutely loves it and we make it quite regularly with rice. Thank you so much, PUL team <3
This recipe is a favorite, but the sauce is a weekly staple. This is my go to asian sauce, and it helps me whip up noodle and rice bowls all week. Love pick up limes, and BTW, love what Robin did with your website.
This is my go-to tofu recipe. It is perfectly balanced with sweet, spicy, and umami notes. I especially like it on top of fried rice or grain bowls with quick pickled veggies. Thank you for your care with creating this recipe!
I’ve made this so many times and it’s an ABSOLUTE favorite! So simple and so so good, everyone in my family loved it.
This was my first ever attempt at cooking with tofu and I’m glad it was with this recipe. It is now in my regular recipe rotation! So simple, versatile and so much flavour. I haven’t had success finding gochujang but subbing Chili garlic sauce has worked great.
So delicious! Already did it twice, and love the spicy taste, thank u :D I personally added a bit of oil in the pan when cooking the tofu otherwise it attached to the pan. Also I didn't add the green onion and the red hot chili but it was still amazing.
With this recipe nobody cannot fall in love w/ tofu
I am preparing this for the 10th time I guess and it's delicious. I started liking tofu after following this recipe. Thank you for such an amazing recipe 😋
This tofu is so good! It kind of reminded me of spicy Korean fish cakes once they were in the fridge for a bit.
Amazing! Marinated tofu is the best and so versatile! 🤤
This is absolutely delicious! I had no idea I could enjoy tofu so much. Brilliant combination of flavours. I’ve had it with a stirfry of veggies, perfect combo ❤️
This was easy and delicious! Don’t hesitate to try this recipe. Tofu is something I’m trying to cook with more and my family really liked this dish!
PS I enjoy your videos!
WOAH!!! I admittedly am not great on leaving reviews but holy moly this is great!! My boyfriend bought gochujang recently for another recipe and so it sparked my interest to use this recipe and I needed a break from traditional salads. The flavor was amazing, your tofu recipes have me hungry for more! I served it with cauliflower rice and enjoyed it the following day for lunch. Thank you SO much for your creative recipes!!
Thank you Sadia for this flavoursome recipe. I loved it! You are so beautiful and I love your new website
I can't believe tofu can taste this amazing. Super easy to make and an amazing burst of flavour! Definitely recommend this dish!
I love your new website and your recipes 🤗 but this recipe spicy garlic tofu - doesn't match the picture which has noodles and broccoli - just thought you should know!
I can't wait to try this one and I love the new website!
This is so tasty and so easy to make! Definitely recommend it! It is now in my favourites list!
