Lovely cake, very unique. It did result in a very dense cake which was still delicious but did I put too much apple? I followed the recipe and put two medium Granny Smith but is there any recommendations to lighten up the cake or should it be dense?
I loved this! I didnβt have any apples or applesauce so I used canned pumpkin instead (I substituted the same amount as the applesauce would be) and omitted the apples. It still turned out great!

Made this and it was a huge hit. Absolutely delicious!! I shredded the apples to save time. I feel doing so didnβt affect the overall texture and distributes the apples nicely. Terrific recipe!
My favorite fall food right now π these are perfectly spiced and amazing! Iβve never chopped apples so finely for baking before (the picture was really helpful for that) and it made such a difference in creating the perfect bite every time.
I adapted this recipe to make muffins and didnβt make the frosting although it sounds fantastic.
To make muffins I adjusted from 12 to 6 servings (which yields 10-12 medium sized muffins). I baked them for 20 minutes, allowed them to cool in the pan for 5 minutes, before allowing them to completely cool on a cooling rack.
I subbed coconut sugar for the brown sugar, I used part spelt flour and part all-purpose flour, and they turned out perfect!
I made this cake yesterday and it was so good, everybody loved it. I used two 20cm tins, which was perfect. Because I have a small oven I set the recipe on β6 portionsβ and made the two layers one by one. The baking time of 30-35 stayed the same. For the frosting I used 500 gram powdered sugar and it was stable and a good combination with the spicy cake. I loved this recipe, the cake was a perfect consistency which can be difficult with vegan baking. Thank you PUL-team!
